Whoa, here we go! The process so far…part 2

After picking the country we wanted to adopt from and finding the adoption agency to work with, it was time for the deep-dive into the process. There are two main parts to this process. First is the adoption agency that deals with the child referral, child placement, a full range of consulting and social services. Lifeline Children’s Services was founded in 1981 when they began promoting the sanctity of life through domestic adoption services. In 1999, they began responding to the needs of orphans internationally and currently have 15 countries in which they coordinate adoption services.

Whoa, here we go! The process so far…part 1

I wanted to take the time to detail some of the process that we have gone through since we started on this adventure. Marta and I have collectively done a lot of reading – looking to ingest as much information as possible. Marta is consuming information that deals a lot of with the parenthood, expectations, experiences and the emotional side of the house. I have focused more on process, paperwork, timeline and difficulty of being a US citizen living abroad going through the process.

We are living in Germany, so there is a layer of complexity added. Continue reading
